Media Statement- Gulf Air flight GF 204- Updated at 11:10am Local Bahrain Time

There were reports in some sections of the media that Gulf Air flight no. GF 204 from Najaf to Bahrain had made an emergency landing in Baghdad yesterday (13 January 2013).

Gulf Air would like to clarify that there was no emergency landing as claimed in the reports.

The flight GF 204 needed additional fuel after arrival at Najaf International airport. Since the fuel grade at Najaf airport has not met Gulf Air’s quality standards, permission was sought from Iraq Civil Aviation Authority for a technical stop in Baghdad to refuel. After receiving permission, the aircraft departed Najaf to Baghdad as planned and the flight landed normally in Baghdad for refueling and departed for Bahrain after a few hours’ delay.
